Previous Mud Runs:
2010 – MS Mud Run

Another MS Mud Run has come and gone!! Check out pics from the 2010 Mud Run. Yes we got muddy, we got wet, we got sore, and we got tired!! Goal accomplished!

Here’s our group before the run. Everyone was worried about hair ties, their shirts, shoes, whether everything looked ok.
From left to right: Brandon, Devon, Tiffany, Jason, Alison, Marta, Adam, and Me!

——————–

Here’s us after the race!! Yes, Marta survived – she was meeting up w/ her husband and kiddos when this was shot!

——————–

So these are basically the only few pictures I have of ME actually doing the race. No one from our group brought a camera because we were afraid it would get broken or ruined.

As a result, I scoured Facebook and Google Search to find some pictures that I thought represented the race. I wanted to try and get photos of as many of the different obstacles that I could. I could totally care less that they aren’t actually OF me or my friends – although that would have been neeto. Seeing each of these pictures really does bring back some memories though!!

——————–

Big ginormous mud pit swim.
First we ran through a VERY dusty path about half a mile long. By the time we arrived at this beauty, we were TOTALLY welcome to the idea of sloshing and swimming through a cool watering hole. (and this was just the beginning)

——————–

This is the same obstacle as above. It was crossing this time I realized my boots floated, which is an odd feeling.

——————–

Running through tires.. harder than it looks – until someone said we could just run on TOP of the tires. That was pretty easy.

——————–

Yup, Adam had to hoist my butt over this one. I just couldn’t get a grip on anything. (or my ass is too big.. either way)

——————–

FINALLY starting to get muddy. Crawling through a muddy bog under barbed wire. Definitely helped us get down n’ dirty. (This picture is from my friend Vanessa – you go girl!)

——————–

At this point everyone started to get tired. A few people on my team just went up and over one level. I forced myself to go all the way to the top and down. (I think Brandon waited for me while I finished this one) It was pretty high up there and wobbled a little bit. My shoulders worked hard on this one.

——————–

It took several tries to get over this one. Doesn’t look too hard, but there wasn’t really anywhere to grip. It was also slightly wet so my hands slipped. The first time I managed to get a good grip, a girl climbing down the other side stepped on my hand. *ouch* There were about 30 people at once climbing over this. I eventually made it over to the other side. Just took time and patience.

——————–

(Another pic of my friend Vanessa)
Instead of barbed wire, crawling thru tubes. This was kinda fun and I tried to crawl through as quickly as I could. One thing I was thrilled to notice was there were no little rocks in the mud on the ground. Last year, there were rocks in the mud and it HURT LIKE H*** to crawl in the mud. Not this year – my knees thank you.

——————–

Standard rope climb. Really doesn’t look that high up – but it was maybe 15 feet high? There were a few people struggling with this one. They’d get almost to the top and suddenly realize they had to figure out how to transition from climbing to hoisting themselves over the big bar at the top. They just hung there in fear not sure what to do. I could see their arms shaking as they clung to the rope climb. If you ever do this obstacle, don’t think, don’t stop, just GO. I was ticked because when I FINALLY made it to the top, the dork next to me kicked me. I wobbled a bit and about fell off. Thankfully I held on. Had I fallen, I would have seriously broken some bones.

——————–

Pretty sure this is my least favorite obstacle. This requires you to actually dunk your head under the water and go under one of the poles. Dunk your head in dark, murky water while other people are climbing and kicking around you. This one ranked right up with going to the Dentist.

——————–

Yet another mud hole to trudge through.

——————–

Another mud hole.. my friend Vanessa w/ cargo netting.

——————–

Fun stuff (this may be from last year actually). A big mud mound, tarp to slide down and a big vat of muddy water. fun stuff, I tell ya.. fun stuff.

——————–

These just seemed to go on… and on… muddy bogs that we had to trudge through. You can see the person to the far left.. there was a huuuge hole hidden in the muddy mess right about there. Devon found that hole. I heard a yelp, turned around and she had splashed down to the ground in that mess. lol

——————–

Indiana Jones style ropes over mud pit. this is a picture I found from the workers that setup the obstacles.

——————–

Big mud hill slide + butt grooves + deep muddy water hole = you’re getting muddy, guaranteed.

——————–

I forget what you call this, rope climb? It was super tough because on the side I chose, the ropes were farther apart than I was tall. I had to stretch on my tiptoes just to reach. I know several people fell in just because they couldn’t touch both the top rope and the bottom rope at the same time!

——————–

The last obstacle.. a big plank you climbed on and them jumped into a muddy pit. Only problem with this is by the time we got to the pit, a lot of water had been splashed out and it was a lot shallower than it should have been.

——————–

Last but not least – the fire hose wash off. Wasn’t as cold as expected and definitely necessary!!

Until next year!!!
